Dog Daycare Facility Requirements

The health and safety of every dog in our care is our top priority. To maintain a safe environment for all daycare attendees, we require that all dogs are current on essential vaccinations and meet basic health standards. Please ensure your dog meets the following requirements before their first day of doggy daycare:

  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
  • DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)
  • Rabies (current vaccination)
  • Spayed/neutered if over 12 months of age (no females in heat)
  • Completion of a free orientation

Free Orientation

We want to ensure maximum care and comfort for each dog attending our St. Louis daycare facility. We know that group play environments may not be suitable for all dogs, which is why a free orientation is required for all first-time daycare visitors at Happy Tails. During your dog's daycare orientation, our experienced staff will assess your pet's temperament, socialization skills, and compatibility with group play. This evaluation helps us determine the best play group for your dog. The orientation process ensures your dog will thrive in our daycare environment while maintaining a safe, positive experience for all dogs in our care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right daycare for your dog is an important decision. We understand you may have questions about our daycare services, daily routine, and what your dog will experience during their visit. Below are answers to the most common daycare questions we receive from pet owners in the St. Louis area about our dog daycare program. If you don’t see your question answered here, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re happy to help!

What are your drop-off and pick-up times?2026-01-19T16:09:45-06:00

Happy Tails is open 24/7, 365 days a year! We provide round-the-clock care for your furry family members, making drop-offs and pick-ups convenient no matter your schedule.

Do you have any breed or size restrictions?2026-01-23T16:04:07-06:00

We welcome dogs of all breeds and sizes at Happy Tails. Our facility is designed to group dogs by size, ensuring safe and comfortable play experiences for every pup, from tiny terriers to giant breeds.

Are there safety measures in place for dog daycare?2026-01-23T16:04:43-06:00

Our trained staff members actively supervise all play groups throughout the day. Dogs are evaluated and separated by size to ensure compatible playmates. Our team monitors interactions closely to maintain a safe, fun environment and intervenes when necessary to redirect overly excited play or give dogs rest breaks.

What if my dog gets tired or needs a break?2026-01-19T16:15:14-06:00

Our staff is trained to recognize when dogs need breaks, and we provide quiet areas where dogs can relax and recharge away from the excitement of group play. Some dogs naturally take breaks throughout the day, while others need gentle encouragement to rest. We monitor each dog’s energy levels and ensure they’re having fun without becoming overtired or overwhelmed.

Do I have to commit to a regular daycare schedule?2026-01-19T16:17:39-06:00

We offer flexible daycare options to fit your needs! You can bring your dog as often or as infrequently as you like—whether it’s daily, a few times a week, or just occasionally when you need it. Many clients find that regular attendance helps their dog build friendships and stay comfortable in our environment, but there’s no minimum commitment required.
